National Record Store Day

Record Store Day just feels special.

It’s amazing how this semi-annual holiday for music heads — one in April, one on Black Friday — becomes a checkpoint in my creative life. The first one of 2025 landed on Saturday, April 12th, and when I stepped into the shop, it felt like stepping into a time capsule. Dust, crates, and the soft crackle of a needle finding its lane — all that analog spirit pulled me back to a moment before the world tried to define things for me, back to that first feeling of discovery.

People lined up outside the door, clutching coffee cups and wish lists, waiting for the exclusive drops like they were waiting on a blessing. And in a way, they were — music still saves us in small, quiet ways.

Record Store Day always feels like a moment to check in with myself — where I’ve been, where I’m headed, and the soundtrack that’s carrying me there.

Somewhere in between the stacks, I caught myself thinking about my own in-between spaces: how a record spins the same way every time, yet somehow we hear something different depending on our emotional weather. Maybe that’s why I return to days like this. They slow me down. Ground me. Remind me why I create.

Now the next chapter is on the horizon — Record Store Day Black Friday on November 28th, 2025. A whole different kind of energy. Cooler air, heavier coats, releases packed with hidden gems, holiday crowds buzzing outside, while inside it’s just vinyl, conversation, and community.
